While the pot does an admirable job of steaming both shrimp and lobster there is one little drawback. The pot is intended as a Turkey fryer and as a result has a timer that automatically will shut down after 15 minutes (I believe). It is relatively easy to relight although you have to turn everything off and then back on. Since you have to get your liquid boiling to produce steam this can mean that you no sooner get it up to a rolling boil and get your shrimp or lobster in the pan and it shuts down on you.

King Kooker turkey fryers are crap. The one I had fell apart after only one year.
I would highly recommend Bayou Classic brand for the following reasons: 1. The pot comes with a basket as well as a turkey rack. 2. It comes already assembled, except for the regulator. 3. It’s much more sturdy and the welds that hold it together appear to be more durable.
As for the timer that goes off after 15 minutes, you’re not supposed to leave a turkey fryer unattended anyway. But I’m giving it a low review because it’s very cheaply made and the burner snapped right off.

I bought this turkey fryer after Thanksgiving and pulled it out for Christmas to use. The timer turns itself off after 15 minutes. The turkey fryer will not work unless you have a battery in the timer. I had to keep hitting the button so the timer would not turn off. If I missed it I had to light the fryer again. It is going to take 15 minutes for the grease to get hot. I do not recommend this product.
